Camp Alumni Shaquille Walters has landed a full scholarship to Division I Santa Clara University in the West Coast Conference after coming through the ranks at City of London Academy.

The talented 6ft 5″ Guard finished as the #3 ranked player in last years camp and after joining Lee Academy this year gained a huge amount of interest from major D1 colleges so we got a chance to find out a bit more from the man himself.

“Going on visits was really good for me as the two schools I visited gave me different insights into what I was looking for. All of the schools who were recruiting me were completely different from mid majors to high major schools, so I ultimately tried to weigh up what was best for me to succeed my potential.”

“This lead to me choosing Santa Clara because of the relationship I gained with the coaching staff especially Coach Sendek and the way they explained the vision they had for me. It was something that was hard to turn down once it had been explained to me so I wanted to be a part of their program.”

Walters closed by explaining what his upcoming goals are and also thanking all of the people that have helped him on his journey.

“Once I arrive I just want to be able to impact the team in anyway possible to make us better and in a position to win. Whether that being scoring to rebounding, I just want to make myself better each day to progress as a player and team.

I would like to thank my family and friends for there indescribable support. I’m more than grateful to have people around me who care for me so much and wish the best for me. Would also would like to thank my coaches for being hard on me and supporting me to understand what it takes to get to the next level.”

From everyone at DENGTOP50, we want to wish Shaq all the success in the USA.
