Last years #1 ranked player RJ Eytle-Rock has committed to UMBC on a full athletic scholarship.

The 6’3 Guard spent last year at Peddie School in New Jersey and will be joining the University of Maryland, Baltimore County who come off the biggest upset in this years NCAA tournament taking down #1 Virginia.

We got to check in with RJ on his scholarship decision.

“I chose UMBC because they put the most effort with my recruitment reaching out back in May of 2017. They are a great program with coaching staff that put in a lot of effort in a place where I feel I can develop. I also felt like I’ve built a good relationship with the coaching staff over this period.”

“I want to win as many games as possible and I’d love to play in the tournament someday. Individually I’d like to grow as a player and person where Coach Odom has developed a ton of good guards so I’m under a good wing.”

Eytle-Rock will be joining fellow DENG Camp alumnus Daniel Akin at UMBC which he is excited about.

“Teaming up with Dan Akin is great, having someone from home will be good. We had good chemistry at Barking Abbey so hopefully we can create the same type of thing in the US!”

“I’m grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to get started on this journey. I’d like to thank God, my mum, coach Lloyd Gardner, old teammates and all coaches that have helped me grow up until now..”

We want to wish RJ all the success at UMBC.
