6ft 7″ sharp-shooting Josh McSwiggan has signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at UTEP and will join the Miners as a freshman for the 2015-16 season.

McSwiggan (ranked #8) tallied an impressive 13.67 PPG, 4.33 RPG & 1.20 APG on a respectful 49.3 FG% in last summer’s camp being noted for his versatility. His ability to stretch the floor with his outside shot, as well as being able to guard multiple positions really makes McSwiggan a coaches dream. We were able to catch up with Josh to get his thoughts and mindset on heading to the US and the importance of exposure camps for UK players.

“My expectations are that it’s going to be a lot faster pace and a lot more physical than basketball in England where the talent level is going to be a lot higher. I believe I’m going to be pushed way out of my comfort zone! My expectations are high and I’m really excited to be a part of their program.”

McSwiggan also payed tribute to DENGTOP50 on how the camp is helping provide an exposure platform for UK basketball players.

“I found DENGTOP50 so competitive as it’s always great to play against and with the best players in the country. I really think that the camp gives much needed exposure for players in the UK which is so important, seeing as basketball hasn’t received huge funding and doesn’t receive enough exposure. This means that basketball players don’t get the chance to achieve their true potential.”

“The UK has talented individuals but it’s difficult for them to go across the globe, therefore exposure camps can give the players the opportunity to play abroad which is exactly what DENGTOP50 is doing.”

We want to congratulate Josh on his scholarship and wish him all the success at UTEP.
