As 50 of Britain’s leading junior basketball players battled for the top spot at Deng Top 50 camp, only one could be crowned #1. In this, its inaugural year, it was 96′ born Jules Dang-Akodo who shone brightest and became the first ever #1 ranked player.

The highly rated U18 England International showed from the very first day that he was all about business. As the coaches retired for the night, it was Luol and his High School coach Joe Mantegna, who were first to remark about the silky smooth South Londoner.

Jules also captured the eye of Camp Commissioner, and legendary Point Guard, Ronnie Baker who is the most capped England International with over 16o caps. Baker believes that Dang Akodo is the next big thing to come out of the UK:

“Jules really is the complete Point Guard who does everything on both ends of the floor. It takes a special player to be able to run a team and to do it so well in an invitational camp shows just how much of a leader he is. He is one of the best players I’ve seen here in the UK for a very long time!”

The highest praise though came from Luol himself who, in an interview with The Daily Star who championed Jules to follow in his footsteps:

“He could be playing in the NBA in three years time.”
