Current #3 ranked and Manchester Magic player Michael Anumba has committed to NCAA D1 Winthrop University on a full athletic scholarship.

The 6ft 4″ Italian Guard will be joining the Eagles that compete in the Big South Conference who last season finished on a 19-12 overall record. We got a chance to catch up with Michael on his decision.

“I chose Winthrop because I have been talking to them for about 4-5 months and they showed how much they wanted me where they worked really hard to recruit me.”

“When I went to visit, I was impressed by the passion of Head Coach Kelsey and by how hard all the other coaches work. The environment was amazing and very energetic and I believe that I can definitely fit into their programme and their atmosphere”

He touched on his goals and what he needs to improve upon.

“My goals in these 4 years at Winthrop are going to be to improve my three point shot, try to be a starter player and most importantly improve my leadership skills. I’m sure that these 4 years at Winthrop are gonna be great and they’re going to be extremely helpful to take another big step in my basketball career.”

We want to wish Michael all the success at Winthrop.
