Jules Dang Akodo, whose #1 ranked highlight tape was released last week from the first DENGTOP50 has signed a professional contract with Frankfurt Skyliners in Germany.  The highly skilled combo guard will play for both the U19 NBBL and Pro B teams showing the immense trust the Skyliners’ have in the young rising star. DENG TOP 50 Camp Director Steve Vear is delighted for Jules and echoes just how important having an exposure platform for elite kids in the UK truly is.

“The sole reason we decided to move to a TOP 50 format was for this exact reason, to give the UK’s elite players a platform to expose and showcase their talent to coaches worldwide. It’s credit to Jules for his complete professional outlook when he came to the camp of ensuring he was going to be ranked #1 and we are all really happy for him on this new move in what looks to be a prosperous career.”

We got a chance to catch up with Jules to find out how his first few days in Germany have been and also how he felt DENG TOP 50 had helped his development on this new move in his career.

“My first couple of days here have been good. It’s a great group of hard working guys. I really feel like I have been here longer than a few days so the organisation is pretty much a perfect fit for me ”

Dang Akodo continued by paying tribute to his experience at DENG TOP 50.

“I learned a lot from the camp, especially the guard drills led by Coach Mantegna with the different ways to finish at the basket. It was a great camp, one of the best I have been to and I want to thank them for all their help this summer.”

Vear strongly believes it’s critical that the camp continues to field the very best in order to help put UK basketball on the map

“It’s so important that we bring the best players into one place together to compete. This way, it’s a true representation of the UK’s best versus the best which will not only elevate the players game but also help scouting coaches to see a well-balanced and consistent high level of play. We really feel that DENG TOP 50 delivers on this.”

More details will follow in the new year of the 2015 camp that aims to be even bigger and better. Stay tuned.
