City of London Academy and 2015-2016 camper Solomon Iluyomade has committed to Laramie County Community College for the 2017/18 season.

The 6ft 7″ Forward has made massive leaps under the watchful eyes of Coach Sterling Muschett and Jackson Gibbons leading to offers from the likes of Kilgore College, Miami Dade and Casper College but he felt LCCC was the right place for him after hearing Coach Ficca’s vision.

We checked in with Solomon to get more insight on his USA scholarship.

“It’s feels great as it doesn’t happen everyday to someone from the UK. It feels great to know that my talents are appreciated and that I am able to continue on my basketball career and also continue on academically without having to pay tuition or board.”

“CoLA was a great place for me to develop, Deng Camp really helped in the summer and I recommend all younger players to try to get involved, it’s really helped my game since last summer and the exposure is helping so many of us. Looking forward to next season at LCCC already.”

Coming off the back of a very solid 2016/17 EABL campaign, Iluyomade averaged 14.2 PPG & 8.7 RPG on 50.7 FG% where he hopes to use this as a springboard when landing in the USA for a new challenge.

“My goals are to make a great impact on the team. To work hard to get a 4 year scholarships to further my basketball career and graduate from University. And of course to continue to get better everyday.”

He will head to LCCC who both UK players Ola Ayodele and Charles Yassi-Pepin have suited up for showing the confidence the school has recruiting within British Basketball where he closed on thanking those who have helped him.

“I would like to thank God and my family because they push and supported me from the minute I decided to touch a ball. Secondly I’d like to thank my coaches Sterling and Jackson for supporting people like me and helping me develop and work toward my goals.”

“I would also like to thank people who have helped along the way like Coach Marvin and Coach Quartey who help massively behind the scenes with developing kids like me.”

From everyone at DENG Camp we want to wish Solomon all the success in his new journey at LCCC.
