Charnwood College Riders began their EABL title defence in style with an 85-51 win against Bournville College with current ranked #14 Sesan Russell leading a balanced scoring attack with 19 points supported by #16 ranked Romario Spence adding 12 points and Morgan Carter filling the stat sheet with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks. Bournville were led by the versatile Guard and current ranked #12 Xavier McIntosh who finished with 12 points.
A game that saw #2 ranked Zion Tordoff and his Myerscough College take on Derby College led by #4 ranked Brian Amabilino stood to be a close encounter which definitely led up to the hype with Tordoff’s side narrowly winning 66-61. Myerscough College were led by sharp shooter James Banton with 16 points with Tordoff adding 15 points. Derby were led by Brian Amabilino who netted a game high 20 points while current #15 ranked Adria Amabilino added 15.
#8 ranked Ali Sbai (pictured) has put down a statement that he wants to climb the player rankings as the Small Forward piled in 28 points to lead John Madejski Academy to a 73-53 victory against Canterbury High School with Ibu Jassey Demba chipping in with 10 points. For Canterbury, Oliver Dykes led their attack with 11 points but it wasn’t enough as JMA get off to a great start in the EABL campaign.
Barking Abbey opened up the 2016-17 EABL season with a 82-58 win over Itchen College with an array of campers putting in fine performances. Obi Agu and #11 ranked Amin Adamu led Abbey with 14 points each, whilst #1 ranked RJ Eytle-Rock added 12 points and #6 ranked Zephi Sharman joined them in double figures with 11.
Perharps the game of the week was City of London Academy (CoLA) paying at Copleston High School where the visitors took the narrow win 72-66 behind 21 points from #17 ranked Gedi Juozapaitis. He was supported by Solomon lluyomade with 19 points, and Thai Segwai-Lodge with 16 points who both unfortunately got injured at the camp showing the immense talent the CoLA programme has at it’s disposal. Copleston were expectably led by#10 ranked Caleb Fuller with 22 points and #13 ranked Josh Apple with 18 points.

St Charles Sixth Form earned their first win of the season after defeating Barking & Dagenham College, 86-60 behind a game high 29 points from #3 ranked Kayne Henry-McCalla.
