Current ranked #12 Andre Arissol has landed a scholarship to Junior College Otero College in Colorado.

The 6ft 0″ Guard played for both Charnwood Academy in the EABL and Loughborough Riders in NBL Division 2 this past season gaining great experience leading to the final selection of the Great Britain U20 squad.

Arissol showed his relentless energy at both ends of the floor being recognised as one of the lead guards throughout the camp. He is excited to get over to the USA and make some noise.

“Getting this scholarship is my life dream! I’ve always wanted to play in America like most ballers in the UK, and now I have an amazing opportunity to do so. It means a lot to myself and my family because they know how hard I’ve worked to better myself everyday.”

“Once I arrive, my goals are to get accustomed as soon as I can to prove and earn my respect through the team and coaches that I can play. The importance of UK players going to America all depends on the individual – it’s a great opportunity and if you get a chance you must consider it. The USA is a great route and an amazing experience and way to get better, however it’s not do or die.”

Andre knows how many people have helped him to gain this opportunity and wanted to take time to appreciate all of them.

Finally I’d like to thank everyone at Leicester Riders and Charnwood College who have been amazing, especially coaches Josh Merrington, Mark Jarram, Krumesh Patel and Rob P. These guys really believed in me and directed me the right way. The same goes to Will Maynard and Conner Washington who took me in like a little brother and inspired me and supported me a lot.

Lastly, my family back home. Never ever would I be here without them and I hope to pay them back in the future.

From everyone at DENGTOP50, we want to wish Andre all the success in the USA.
