Junior Williams was awarded with the annual Jimmy Rogers Educational Award at this year’s DENG TOP 50 for his inspiring work in the community and at the elite level in the UK.

The award signifies individuals who teach the game of basketball the way Jimmy emphasises, in a professional, passionate and respectful manner. Junior has been instrumental in growing the game of basketball in the UK through his work with Reach and Teach delivering projects such as London School of Basketball, the infamous Midnight Madness, and starting up a new club the Kennington Generals. Coach Williams is also the Lead Assistant coach at London’s only professional team in the BBL – London Lions.

Junior was shocked to get this award and thanked many people who have helped him in his coaching career.

“I would firstly like to thank everyone at the LDF for this award, it was a real surprise!  I love the game of basketball, I love giving back to the community and working with young people who want to play and improve in all areas of life whether academic, athletic or just on a social level.”

Williams continued to pay tribute to people who helped him on his journey.

“This award is also tribute to all the previous coaches, teachers and mentors I have had in my life who I have watched and admired helping me to become the man/coach and father so thank you Ken Johnson, Steve Alexander, Paul Ambrosius, Joe White RIP, Tony Garbelotto, Laslo Nemeth, Daryl Reshaw, Kenny Clark, Win Case OCU and last but not least Jimmy Rogers! Watching you all motivate young players to be the best they can be inspired me to do the same.”

From everyone at the Deng Camp family, we want to thank Junior for his relentless hard work to continue to grow the game of basketball and wish him even more success in the future.
